How to play Merge

Merge is a 2048-style number puzzle on a 4 × 4 board. Swipe or use the arrow buttons to slide every tile in one direction. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value, and the merged value is added to your score.

After each move a new 2 or 4 tile appears. The game continues until the board is full and no merges are possible. Unlike the other Puzji puzzles, Merge has no single solution, so the goal is to plan ahead and beat your best score.

Merge strategy tips

Keep your biggest tile in a corner

Choose one corner and build toward it. A large tile in the middle blocks merges in every direction.

Favor two or three directions

Mostly using the same two directions keeps the board ordered and stops your largest tile from being pulled out of its corner.

Build a descending chain

Line up tiles in decreasing order along an edge, such as 64, 32, 16, 8. One merge can then set off several in a row.

Think one move ahead

Before swiping, check where the new tile might appear and whether that move leaves you with safe options next turn.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Swiping randomly, which scatters large numbers across the board.
• Moving the corner tile out of position when another move was available.
• Filling the board with small tiles before merging them into larger ones.
